Can I install an electric Cooker?
Yes you can, but be very careful as the rating of the cooker will normally be more than your contracted power rating with EDF. This can be, in most cases, increased without too much hassle but your annual charges will increase dramatically. The other problem you may encounter is that cookers manufactured in the UK are designed for single phase supply (I.e. 230 volts). In France if you require a high power demand from EDF it might mean that you will have to have three phase (440 volts) installed, or it may be already installed in many older large houses. If at all possible purchase a cooker in France once you have discovered the exact system you have installed. Please do not have a cooker built to your own specification in the UK hoping that it will work outside the UK.
