Yes, however in most circumstances they will have to be connected differently. Especially high current appliances like washing machines, tumble driers and dish washers as they all have their own individual connections to the consumer unit. Washing machines and electric cookers also have to have a specific residual current device (RCD) that is designed to protect such appliances.
